SUMMARY:Fellowship for advancing science journalism in Africa and the Middle East
DESCRIPTION:“This new one-semester fellowship\, hosted by the Knight Science Journalism Program at MIT\, was inspired by the life and career of Egyptian science journalist Mohammed Yahia. The fellowship is designed to enrich the training of a journalist from Africa or the Middle East so they can contribute to a culture of high-quality science and health journalism in those regions\, as well as raising awareness of regional advances in the rest of the world.” Journalists based in Africa and the Middle East with at least three years’ of experience reporting on science\, health\, or environmental issues in this region are eligible to apply. The fellowship includes a $40\,000 stipend\, health insurance\, and other benefits. Applications are open between February 1 and March 1\, 2024.

DESCRIPTION:STAT publishes daily news\, investigative articles\, narrative projects and more focused on health\, medicine and life sciences. The Disability in Health Care Reporting Fellowship\, a 12-month program starting in 2024\, “is aimed at journalists interested in covering disability issues while learning the basics of health and science reporting. This fellowship is meant to focus on the intersections of disability and health care\, the life sciences\, and a rapidly expanding health technology sector. Fellows will report on the barriers disabled people face in these realms\, and explore possible solutions.” \nThe salary for the fellowship is $70\,000\, and can be at the STAT offices in Boston or Washington\, D.C.\, or remote. The deadline for the fellowship was January 24.
